I’ve never read the first book (Practical Magic). Actually, I didn’t even know it existed, I just remember watching Practical Magic movie when I was a little girl, and I remember liking it. 🙂
I’ve got a copy of The Rules of Magic from my penpal (yup, I have a penpal) for my birthday. Now I can say, that it was one of the best birthday gifts I’ve got this year. I’ve spent a lot of cozy time reading it.
‘From the start Susanna sets down rules for her children: No walking in the moonlight, no red shoes, no wearing black, no cats, no crows, no candles, no books about magic. And most importantly, never, ever, fall in love…‘
‘The Owens children cannot escape love even if they try, just as they cannot escape the pains of the human heart…’The book tells a family story spanning decades – from the childhood to the old age. And it’s so much more than just witches, magic and love curses, It’s a heart breaking (and a heart warming at the same time) story about life’s injustice, family, true friendships, love of a lifetime…
It’s so so so beautifully written, I can’t even tell you… 😭 I’ve felt sympathy for the characters so much!
This book makes you think. It’s not an easy careless read that you forget soon after closing the last page. But it’s like the first morning cup of coffee when you wake up, very much a needed ritual when you get used to it. ❤️
